

Announcing his retirement, Bennett said: “When I started playing ball in the nets as a young boy, I was going to enjoy a career I had never dreamed of.”
He added: “The Old Boys Timaru Cricket Club, with whom I started cricket, Timaru Boys High School, South Canterbury Cricket, Canterbury Cricket, Cricket Wellington and New Zealand Cricket, and the other best clubs I have played with over the years. They all helped me achieve my cricketing dream. I have played with all the great players, captains, and coaches and I feel lucky to have worked with them. “
Bennett made his T20 debut in 2020. Bennett played his last international match for the country in the T20 against Bangladesh in Mirpur in September 2021. Bennett did not take a wicket in the only Test of his career. He has taken 33 wickets in 19 ODIs and 10 wickets in 11 T20s.
Bennett has played for the New Zealand U19 national team, Wellington, and Canterbury at home in his cricket career. Bennett has played 79 first-class and 112 List A matches since making his domestic debut in 2005. The 35-year-old Bennett has taken 261 wickets in first-class cricket and 160 wickets in List A.
