Opening Ceremony Cancellation

In contrast to the previous expectations, the BCCI has reportedly scrapped the grand opening ceremony. Instead, a captains’ meet has been planned for Wednesday, followed by a laser show, as per Dainik Jagaran reports.

The captains’ meeting is slated for 7 pm today, but the absence of official confirmation has left fans wondering. Both the ICC and the BCCI have yet to issue a formal statement regarding the status of the opening ceremony.

Challenges for BCCI

The BCCI has faced numerous challenges in organizing this prestigious event. Criticisms surfaced about the World Cup schedule, and confusion over venues and a ticketing scandal further added to the troubles. The 13th edition of the Cricket World Cup is set to commence on October 5 and conclude on November 19. The tournament features 10 teams, including Afghanistan, Australia, Bangladesh, England, India, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, South Africa, and Sri Lanka.
