In the second ODI of the three-match series, West Indies defeated the Netherlands by 5 wickets thanks to the batting performances of Brandon King and Aqeel Hossain. With one match left in this victory, the Caribbeans took over the series.
After winning the toss and electing to bat first at Amstelveen, the Netherlands scored 214 runs in the stipulated 50 overs with the help of Vikramjit Singh, Mac O’Dawood, and Scott Edwards batting brilliantly. Chasing the tiny target, West Indies ensured the victory with 27 balls to spare on the basis of King’s unbeaten innings.
Two openers Vikramjit Singh and Mac O’Daud made a great pair of 101 runs off 123 balls to bat first. After Vikram returned for 48 runs, O’Dawad was dismissed for 51 runs. The Netherlands innings collapsed after the departure of the two openers in the team’s 115-run innings. However, the Netherlands managed to score 214 runs with 68 runs by Scott Edwards who came down to number three.
Akil Hossain took 4 wickets for 39 runs for West Indies. Alzari Josep took a pair of wickets.
West Indies did not have a good start in batting to win. After the fall of 3 wickets for 48 runs, the team ended half of their innings at 99 runs. However, King secured the victory for the West Indies by averaging 118 off 133 balls with Casey Karti for the sixth wicket.
