Kolkata Knight Riders have no choice but to win the final matches to stay in the race for the playoffs. So to increase their strength, the franchise has added Johnson Charles to the team as a replacement for Liton Das who left the IPL for the national team. The Caribbean batsman joined the KKR camp ahead of the match against Punjab Kings on Monday (May 8). The two-time champions confirmed the matter on their social media.

Kolkata has four more matches in the league phase of IPL. The number of matches will increase if you reach the knockout stage. Tiger wicket-keeper batsman Liton Das has left the IPL due to a family emergency and national team games in the middle of the competition. Instead, a few days ago, the KKR authorities announced the inclusion of Caribbean batter Charles in the team.

He joined the Kolkata camp on Monday morning. However, his fielding against Punjab is not certain. If he can overcome the pressure of air travel, Kolkata can play him.

Charles is the third Caribbean member of the Kolkata Knight Riders family. Andre Russell and Sunil Narine have been with KKR for a long time. Now 34-year-old Charles joined them. The wicket-keeper batsman has played 48 ODIs and 41 T20 matches for West Indies. He has played 224 T20 cricket matches based on the franchise.

Where he played 219 innings and scored 5607 runs. Charles has the hundreds and 32 fifties in these innings. Charles is regularly spreading light in T20 franchise leagues in South Africa, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. In the last BPL final, Leetons played a brilliant inning to beat Comilla Victorians.
