Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hasan Papon has informed that Mominul Haque will be kept in West Indies tour of Bangladesh ‘A’ team. It was said at the time that the plan was to bring the former Test captain back to form.
In a press conference on Thursday afternoon, the question was raised as to why BCB withdrew from that plan regarding Mominul. In response to this, BCB selector Abdur Razzak said that the out-of-form Mominul has been kept on full rest. There is no question of him being considered for this tour.
The former left-arm spinner of the national team said, “Test cricket is already difficult. Mominul was having a bad time and he was also the captain, so sometimes people need a short break. It is for a mental refresh, physical and performance to return well. Mominul needs complete rest. I think he has been given proper rest. A kind of pause is given. There is no question of bringing him here or not.”
