Mohammad Siraj has been released from Team India’s ODI squad ahead of the three-match series against the West Indies.

The right-arm pacer has developed a sore ankle, and the BCCI medical team has advised him to take rest as a precautionary measure.

No replacement player has been called for the ODI series, which is set to begin on July 27, 2023, in Barbados.

Siraj did not make mistakes like Shakib

Cricket’s governing body, the ICC, is in a strict position on match-fixing. If someone contacts the players on the matching page, they should be informed immediately – this is the ICC rule. If you do not follow that rule, you will be punished. Shakib Al Hasan, the star of Bangladesh cricket, was banned from cricket for a year due to this mistake. Indian fast bowler Mohammed Siraj did not make such a mistake like the best all-rounder in the world.

Siraj had the offer to play the match-fixing. He received the offer in January this year. That’s when Siraj informed the BCCI’s anti-corruption wing officials. The incident came to light after so long. This happened to Shakib in 2019. A gambler had approached him with a match-fixing proposal. Shakib did not tell the board at first. According to ICC rules, Shakib should have informed the anti-corruption branch of the board immediately. Which he didn’t. The incident came to light later. As a result, Shakib was banned from all forms of cricket for one year.

After losing multiple gambles, Siraj was whatsapped out of frustration. The man was arrested by andhra pradesh police after receiving Siraj’s complaint.

Mohammad Siraj tops the ODI rankings

Indian pacer Mohammed Siraj has climbed to the top of the ICC ODI bowlers’ rankings. He has replaced New Zealand pacer Trent Boult at the top. Siraj’s rating point is 729. Bolt’s points have dropped, with 708 points, he is now in three.

Aussie pacer Josh Hazlewood is at number two, two less than Siraj’s rating points (727). Another Aussie pacer Mitchell Starc is in fourth place. In February last year, Siraj cemented his place in India’s ODI squad. After that, he played 20 matches in about a year and took 37 wickets.

Siraj overtook Boult and Hazlewood to reach the top due to his excellent bowling against Sri Lanka and New Zealand at home.

Afghan star Rashid Khan is number five. Adam Zampa is in sixth place. Bangladesh’s Shakib Al Hasan and Mustafizur Rahman are also in the top 10. Shakib’s position is seventh, and Fizz’s ninth. Pakistan’s star fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi is in eighth place.
