Maxwell’s stormy innings helped Australia win by 2 wickets with 9 balls to spare. The Australians went ahead 1-0 with the Sri Lankans.
Aaron Finch was out after making 44 runs. Steven Smith played an impeccable innings of 53 off 60 balls. Marnus Labushan made 24 runs. Marcus Stoinis played a stormy innings of 44 off 31 balls. Alex Carey scored 21 runs off 22 balls.

Pat Cummins was out for zero and Aston Agar was out for 3, but Maxwell didn’t give up. The Australian all-rounder left the field after winning the team from unbeaten.

Hasaranga took 4 wickets for 58 runs in 9 overs. Dunith Velalai took 2 wickets, Dasun Sanaka and Mahesh Thiksana took 1 wicket each.
Earlier, Sri Lanka got a big collection of 300 runs in three half centuries. Top-order batsmen Danuska Gunathilaka, Pathum Nishanka and Kushal Mendis scored half-centuries.

After winning the toss, Danushka Gunathilaka and Pathum Nishanka put on 115 runs in the opening over. Gunathilaka, who scored 55 off 53 balls, was run out. Pathum Nishanka was dismissed for 56 runs in 118 overs.

Dhananjaya de Silva was then dismissed for 7 off 17 balls. Charith Ashalanka scored 37 off 42 balls. Dasun Shanaka scored 6 runs off 7 balls. Wanidu Hasaranga made 37 off 19 balls in the last minute.
