Shakib Al Hasan, the talented all-rounder from Bangladesh, has made an impressive comeback to the top 10 of the ICC ODI bowler rankings, climbing three spots.

With an exceptional economy rate of 2.88 and four wickets in the recent three-match ODI series against Afghanistan, Shakib now holds the 10th position among bowlers, making him the highest-ranked Bangladeshi bowler.

In the third ODI, Shakib added one more wicket to his tally, matching the ODI wicket count of Daniel Vettori at 305. This achievement places both Shakib and Vettori as the second-most successful left-arm spinners in the 50-over format, just behind the legendary Sri Lankan Sanath Jayasuriya, who has 323 wickets.

It’s worth noting that Jayasuriya accomplished his feat in 445 ODIs, whereas Shakib achieved the same milestone in just 235 matches, almost half the number of games played by the Sri Lankan maestro.

On the other hand, Mustafizur Rahman, the pace bowler from Bangladesh, slipped two positions to 22nd in the rankings after claiming two wickets in the ODIs against Afghanistan.

Despite his outstanding performance in the third ODI, where he recorded career-best figures of 4-21 and was named the player of the match, Shoriful Islam has yet to break into the top 100 of the bowler rankings. He currently holds the 104th position, which is his highest career ranking to date.

Josh Hazlewood of Australia continues to maintain his top spot in the ODI bowler rankings.

In the batting rankings, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran of Afghanistan have seen an upward movement due to their centuries against Bangladesh in the second ODI. Zadran has climbed 11 positions to secure the 16th spot, while Gurbaz has impressively jumped 45 spots to reach the 45th position.

Meanwhile, Australian batsman Travis Head has advanced two spots in the Test batting rankings during the ongoing Ashes series, courtesy of his three half-centuries. He now occupies the second position, trailing behind New Zealand’s Kane Williamson, who is currently sidelined due to an injury.
