In a candid interview on the ‘Wake Up With Sorabh’ YouTube channel, Shoaib Akhtar divulged his most formidable opponent on the cricketing field. To the astonishment of many, he singled out Lakshmipathy Balaji, an Indian fast bowler, as the cricketer he struggled most against.
“Lakshmipathy Balaji used to be my biggest opponent. He used to hate me like anything; I was all over the place, man. I could not get him out,” confessed Akhtar.
Beyond reminiscing about his illustrious cricketing career, Akhtar also shared his perspective on the upcoming ODI World Cup in 2023. He emphasized that the Indian team would face immense pressure when hosting the tournament, owing to the high expectations and scrutiny that come with home advantage.
“We have to come to India and we want to defeat India. We haven’t spent 600 crores. You want to come to India, the pressure is on you, the media will eat you up right away,” Akhtar highlighted.
