The rain-interrupted match at The Village in Malahide lasted 12 overs. Batting first, the Irish scored 108 runs. In reply, Ireland was blown away by India’s batters. The visitors got an easy 7-wicket victory.

Skipper Hardik made it easier for India to chase down India’s target with a demand of almost nine runs per over. Hardik played an innings of 24 off 12 balls on the way to adding 64 runs in 5.1 overs with Deepak Hooda. But not with the bat, Hardik has basically made history with the ball, in the first innings of the match.

Hardik bowled two overs in the cartel overs match and took a wicket at the cost of 26 runs. This is the first instance of taking wickets among India’s captains in international T20Is. Earlier, in India’s 164 matches, no other captain had seen a wicket. Because no one who has been India’s captain has bowled before.

Hardik Pandya is India’s ninth captain in T20 Internationals. Earlier, the team was led by Virender Sehwag, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Suresh Raina, Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Ajinkya Rahane, Shikhar Dhawan, and Rishabh Pant. None of them could take wickets. That’s what Hardik Pandya did.
