Opener Abdulla Shafiq was the biggest contributor to Pakistan’s run chase. He remained unbeaten on 160 off 408 balls. In these innings, he has hit only 6 fours and a six. Pakistan was under pressure after losing 6 wickets for 303 runs. But Shafiq and Mohammad Nawaz put on an unbroken 41-run stand for the seventh wicket. Nawaz remained unbeaten on 19 runs.

Captain Babar Azam, opener Imam-ul-Haq, and wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan contributed to the chase. Babar scored 55, Imam’s 35 came from the bat, and Rizwan’s contribution was 40.

Sri Lankan left-arm spinner Prabhat Jayasuriya also bowled well in the second innings, taking four wickets. Apart from this, Ramesh Mendis and Dhananjaya de Silva got one wicket each. Abdullah Shafiq was the winner of the match. With this win, Pakistan took a 1-0 lead in the two-match series.
