Mushfik Hasan, a promising young pace bowler from Bangladesh, has earned his place in the national squad for the one-off Test against Afghanistan, starting on June 14 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. The 20-year-old Mushfik has showcased his talent in the longer formats of domestic cricket in Bangladesh, which led to his inclusion in the Bangladesh A team that recently faced West Indies A.

Mushfik’s strength lies in his ability to maintain strict lines, lengths, and accuracy, which have earned him credibility in the Test side. When asked about his approach, he emphasized the importance of focusing on these aspects first before trying to increase his pace.

With Bangladesh’s pace attack gaining recognition as a formidable force, Mushfik acknowledged the impact it has had on aspiring young pacers like himself. He draws inspiration from his fellow Tigers pacers and considers South Africa’s Kagiso Rabada as his role model.

Mushfik made his first-class debut in 2022 and has already taken 49 wickets in 13 matches, averaging an impressive 21.30, including three five-wicket hauls. He attributes his call-up to the national team to his consistent performances in longer version tournaments. He also revealed that his success is rooted in keeping things simple and disciplined when bowling.

Expressing gratitude for his selection, Mushfik credited his hard work on fitness and bowling during his time at the High-Performance (HP) camp last year. He sought advice from experienced coaches like Talha Jubair and Champaka Ramanayake, and their guidance proved invaluable to his development.

Mushfik maintains a consistent approach across all levels of cricket, whether it’s playing for the A team, first-class matches, or other tournaments. If given the opportunity in the national team, he intends to stick to the same game plan and give his best performance.
