Former South African cricketer and Pakistan’s bowling coach, Morne Morkel, expressed unwavering faith in Pakistan’s spinners as they gear up for their crucial Super Four clash against Sri Lanka in spin-friendly conditions.

Morkel emphasized that Pakistan’s spin bowlers are well-prepared and eager to make their mark when the team needs them most. He believes they possess the skill and confidence to emerge as match-winners on this occasion.

“The conditions are spin friendly, and I think our spinners are working really hard at the moment. They will be the first to put up their hands when it is needed. They are all match-winners and experienced players. They know how to make comebacks,” Morkel asserted.

Expressing concern over the absence of the injured fast bowler, Naseem Shah, Morkel acknowledged it as a significant setback for the team. Nevertheless, he remains optimistic that another talented bowler will step up to fill Naseem’s crucial role in the upcoming Super Four match.

“Obviously, it is a big blow (absence of Naseem). It is unfortunate that he picked some little niggles. But what a fantastic opportunity for the guys you know coming in. After going down against India, it’s a must-win game for us tomorrow. I’m quite excited to see new guys stepping in and showing some character,” Morkel further added.

Naseem Shah sustained a right shoulder injury during the match against India, forcing him out of the tournament, with Zaman Khan selected as his replacement.
