Who will win Melbourne Renegades vs Hobart Hurricanes BBL 24th match?

Melbourne Renegades are set to be in action against Hobart Hurricanes on January 12. This 24th fixture of the ongoing Big Bash League 2016-17 will be played at the Docklands Stadium which is the home ground of the Renegades. The match is scheduled to begin at 7:40 PM local time.

Toss

A beautiful batting strip can be expected for this match as the ground has seen 170 or more being scored in the first innings five times in its past seven matches. Also since three of the last four matches at the Docklands have been won by the side batting first, the team that wins the toss on Thursday is more likely to bat first.

Melbourne Renegades vs Hobart Hurricanes Head to Head

Melbourne Renegades and Hobart Hurricanes have come face-to-face five times in the past. While the Hurricanes won the first game, the Renegades came out on top in the next four – a win percentage of 80 over the former. The Renegades had also won the only match to be played between the two sides at the Docklands Stadium.

Melbourne Renegades vs Hobart Hurricanes Prediction

Both teams have faced defeats in their previous two matches and will be under pressure. However, it is the Hobart Hurricanes who will be feeling more heat as they desperately need to earn the next four points in order to keep their semi-finals hopes alive. So chances are that they could fall apart and succumb to the pressure. Plus, the fact that they have been beaten once before by Melbourne Renegades at the Docklands won’t do their confidence much good. Even though the Renegades haven’t been doing well at this venue lately, we feel they are still a strong enough side to take down the struggling Hurricanes here.

So here I am again!

Good wishes for all those who accepted my analysis about Perth being better team with abilities to have a deserving win! Perth actually won.

And now is the next match; the match between Melbourne Renegades and Hobart Hurricanes. Melbourne Renegades is a skewed team. It has some world-famous names like Sunil Narain; and Aron Finch, and obviously, ever-green, never becoming old our own Brad Hogg.

I respect Brad Hogg a lot; he is marvellous and in many terms better than Shane Warne the god of spin himself. But Sunil Narain is an overrated bowler (I feel).

Anyways; Best spinners are with Melbourne. But what about seam/pace bowlers? James Pattinson is clueless bowler with lot of pace and lot of possibilities to spill runs. Nathan Reimmington too is not haing any good times. Overall, despite having Hogg and Narain both, Team Melbourne is a poor bowling unit.

Bowling of Hobart isn’t too great too, but anyone can trust Stuart Broad anyday. He is marvellous and while he used to be a young 20 years old when Yuvraj hit him for Six Sixes; he is an experienced player now with LOTs of variations. Another bowler is Daniel Christian, we have seen what he is capable of, but he can be hunted down for big runs. Sam Rainbird and Jake Reed; any of them will be better bowler than Shaun Tait. I always try to be reasonable but even the mention of Shaun Tait reminds me of that song *Panauti* from movie Housefull. Since Shaun Tait is out, Hobart is in good books.

Now come to batting side. Melbourne Renegade is a POOR Batting Side wholly based on Finch. Finch often comes under pressure and when in pressure he always fails to deliver. There is a reason why he has been dropped out of national squad. At present, both of these teams are in pressure and data suggests that George Bailey is a better captain and better batsman in twisting tense conditions. Other batsman for Melbourne Renegades are Cameron White and Callum Ferguson. Both are good performers and Tom Cooper is Dangerous.

However; for tomorrow’s contest, no-one is more dangerous than D’Arcy Short. Tim Paine has shown how dangerous he can be, Jonathan Wells and Beau Webster are good hitters of the ball, obviously better than Sunil Narain. With Baily ready to manage the middle order, Hobart Hurricanes is certainly much better batting unit than Melbourne Renegades.

I am pretty confident that Hobart Hurricanes will win tomorrows match. However; there is a twist. If Finch somehow gets loose and start showing his pyrotechnics, then he can be pretty devastating. Yet, I will put my bets on D’Arcy Short more than Finch. Plus, Hobart does have the quality cuttings of Sangakara who will be a major player for tomorrow’s game.

I am pretty sure, Hobart Hurricanes is going to win tomorrow’s match.

Renegades. Even though the Melbourne side is likely to be missing Aaron Finch, I’ll stick with them at home. Tom Cooper and Sunil Narine will step up to the plate with bat and ball.

BJ Conkey

Renegades. Okay, so both teams will be affected by ODI selections by the time this game comes around. The Hurricanes will lose George Bailey and be left with… Tim Paine. And Stuart Broad. Red-Melbourne will lose Aaron Finch and be left with Cameron White, Callum Ferguson, Sunil Narine, Brad Hogg, etc. The Renegades will still be too strong.

Brett McKay

Renegades. In the inconsistent beast that is Twenty20 cricket, I don’t like tipping one side to win three games in a week. But I like the Hurricanes’ batting without George Bailey (who’ll surely be on ODI duty) even less. Renegades it is!
