Former England cricketer Kevin Pietersen has weighed in on the upcoming ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2023, naming Pakistan as a significant ‘threat’ to the competition’s contenders.

Pietersen, using his social media platform ‘X’, pointed to Pakistan’s reputation for unpredictable gameplay, branding them as a constant threat. Their versatility on the field, marked by an ability to spring surprises, positions them as formidable adversaries.

The former cricketer also acknowledged South Africa as a potent contender, particularly following their recent triumph over Australia in an ODI series. He underscored the pivotal role played by batter Heinrich Klaasen in bolstering the team’s strength.

Shifting focus to the Indian cricket team, Pietersen stressed their status as favorites, especially on home soil, following their successful campaign in the 2023 Asia Cup.
