Kane Williamson suffered a knee injury while taking a leaping catch against Chennai Super Kings in the IPL opener in Ahmedabad. He was seen leaving the field with Gujarat Titans medical staff on his shoulders. Sai Sudarshan took to fielding instead. The way Kane lay on the ground looked like nothing good was waiting for him. Nothing happened. The New Zealand captain has been ruled out of IPL-2023 due to a knee injury. He will leave India and board the country’s flight soon.

In a statement about his injury, Gujarat Titans Director of Cricket Vikram Solanki said, ‘It is really sad for us to lose Kane to injury so early in the tournament. We wish him a speedy recovery. Ken will undergo a rehabilitation process under the supervision of Cricket New Zealand back home. Kiwi coach Gary Steed described his injury as a big blow for New Zealand. New Zealand is currently playing a T20 series against Sri Lanka. After this series, they will tour Pakistan to play a five-match T20I series and a five-match ODI series. However, Ken took leave from the Sri Lanka series and the Pakistan tour to play in the IPL. But the IPL game was not pleasant for him due to injuries. Now it remains to be seen how long it takes for Williamson to recover from the injury.
