The highly anticipated final match of the Indian Premier League 2023 is set to take place on Sunday (May 28) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, featuring a showdown between the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and the Gujarat Titans (GT). This will be the third encounter between the two teams this season. Out of their previous four meetings in the IPL, GT has emerged victorious in three, including their league-stage clash earlier this season. However, in their most recent encounter, CSK came out on top.

In the second qualifier against the Mumbai Indians, GT won the toss and chose to bat first. Shubman Gill delivered a stellar performance, scoring his third century of the season and surpassing Faf du Plessis to become the leading run-scorer in the tournament. His explosive knock of 129 runs at a remarkable strike rate of 215 propelled GT to a total of 233 runs for the loss of three wickets. In response, MI lost three wickets in the PowerPlay but found stability through the contributions of Tilak Varma, Cameron Green, and Suryakumar Yadav. However, once Suryakumar was dismissed in the 15th over, the remaining batters struggled. MI eventually succumbed to 171 all out in 18.2 overs, resulting in a 62-run victory for GT.
