I would have banned Akram-Walker for life – Ramiz Raja

Last month, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif replaced Ramiz Raja as the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as he was close to former prime minister Imran Khan.
Ramiz Raja targeted legendary fast bowlers Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis while referring to Justice Malik Muhammad Qayyum’s report on match-fixing.
Wasim Akram’s name cropped up several times in the match-fixing report, he was also fined and removed from the captaincy.
Despite being fined, Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis were part of Pakistan’s management. Later, he was also on the team’s coaching panel.
When asked about Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis, Raja said, “I think none of them should have got a chance in Pakistan cricket. If I were a decision-maker, I would have banned them for life at that time. But they were brought back into the system.
He added: “I wasn’t in power at the time. We were told to play with them and work with them and so on. No one knew how I dealt with it. So many people were involved in it. I don’t know what the obligation was.
