In light of injuries to key pacers Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc, Australia has managed to secure a 2-0 lead in the five-match one-day series against South Africa by occasionally deploying part-time bowlers to share the new ball.

During the series, all-rounder Marcus Stoinis partnered with paceman Hazlewood in the opening match’s three-wicket victory in Bloemfontein. Subsequently, the team experimented with part-time spinner Travis Head and fast bowling all-rounder Sean Abbott, who led the bowling attack in the 123-run win at the same venue.

As Australia prepares for the World Cup, Hazlewood anticipates a return to their traditional approach when captain Cummins and Starc rejoin the squad for the final warm-up series against India, which precedes the tournament starting next month.

Hazlewood stated, “With Mitch and Pat coming in hopefully for the India series before the World Cup, there’s still a lot of games to go, no doubt the quicks will play a huge part not only here but at the World Cup as well.”
