India women’s team captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, is set to face penalties from the International Cricket Council (ICC) for her conduct during the third ODI against Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

Harmanpreet’s frustration was evident as she expressed her displeasure by hitting the stumps with her bat after being dismissed. She also had a heated exchange with the on-field umpire and made critical comments during the post-match presentation.

Reportedly, match referee Akhtar Ahmed has classified Harmanpreet Kaur’s actions as a Level 2 offense. As a result, she will be fined 50 percent of her match fee for the on-field incident of smashing the wicket and an additional 25 percent for her behavior during the presentation ceremony.

Out of the three demerit points issued, two were given for the heated on-field incident, while the third point was added for her remarks about the quality of umpiring.

The match itself witnessed a dramatic conclusion, with India losing six wickets in the last 10 overs, leading to a tie with Bangladesh. However, since the allocated time for the fixture was exceeded, a Super Over couldn’t be held.

During the post-match presentation, Harmanpreet expressed her frustration with the umpiring standards and stated that India would prepare themselves better to deal with such umpiring in future matches in Bangladesh.

With one win and one loss in the series, both teams shared the trophy as the series ended 1-1.
