Former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir did not hold back as he critiqued Rohit Sharma’s performance in the Asia Cup Super 4 clash against Pakistan. Rohit Sharma, the skipper of the Indian cricket team, started slowly but eventually accelerated, scoring 58 runs from just 49 balls before being dismissed. In a candid conversation following Rohit’s dismissal, Gambhir expressed his belief that even the Indian captain himself would be disappointed by the manner in which he lost his wicket.

Gambhir did not mince his words, stating, “I feel he will be extremely disappointed. The way Rohit Sharma got out, it was an extremely bad shot. He himself knows that shot deserves to be criticized because Pakistan were down and out at that stage.” While reviewing the day’s play on Star Sports, Gambhir provided this straightforward analysis.

Shortly after Rohit’s dismissal, his opening partner Shubman Gill also departed, having scored a half-century. Gambhir was far from pleased to see both openers fall in rapid succession, as this setback dampened India’s hopes of achieving a 350-plus total.

“At one point, it seemed India might score 370-375. Rohit Sharma played a bad shot and Shubman Gill got out in the very next over. You don’t want to give even the slightest window to a bowling attack like Pakistan,” Gambhir asserted. He emphasized the significance of not providing an opportunity to a strong bowling attack like Pakistan’s.
