Mushfiqur Rahim broke the silence when the situation in the cricket community was silent on the issue. He suddenly announced that he has quit international T20. Even the senior officials of the Bangladesh Cricket Board are surprised by his announcement. Jalal Yunus, Chairman of the Board’s Cricket Operations Committee, said yesterday that Mushfiqur’s decision was not pre-planned.

He said that he has met Mushfiq several times in the United Arab Emirates. But Mushfiqur never once said anything about his retirement plans. Because Mushfiq announced his retirement without any discussion with the board – this was the statement of this BCB official.
However, BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin Nannu said that he received an SMS. He told the media, “Mushfiq gave me an SMS while giving Facebook status. There was a mention of his retirement from the T20 format.”
