Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President, Nazmul Hassan Papon, expressed the board’s unwavering commitment to supporting Tamim Iqbal’s full recovery from his injury. Papon assured that over the past two years, the board has been diligently catering to Tamim’s needs both at home and abroad, and they are ready to continue doing so.

Addressing the situation, Papon mentioned that Tamim has been advised by a doctor to either undergo an injection or opt for surgery to address his injury. Whatever decision Tamim makes, the BCB is fully prepared to accommodate and support him in his recovery journey.

Tamim, the ODI captain for Bangladesh, recently spoke to local media outlets, expressing concerns about the fitness drills he was prescribed, which seemed to overlook his previous injury issues. However, Papon clarified that he had not been aware of any such complaints from Tamim, and he refrained from commenting further on the matter.

The BCB president affirmed that Tamim remains their World Cup captain, emphasizing his pivotal role in the team’s leadership. However, when it comes to Tamim’s return to the national side, there is still uncertainty. Liton Das took up the captaincy in Tamim’s absence during the last two matches against Afghanistan. Papon stated that Tamim will resume captaincy upon his return, but until then, they are unsure about the timeline for his comeback or his availability for specific matches. Nonetheless, the board’s primary focus is on Tamim’s quick and complete recovery, and they eagerly await his return to the team.
