In the beginning, Bangladesh was under pressure after losing the wickets of two openers Liton Das and Tamim Iqbal. Nazmul Hossain Shanto and Mushfiqur Rahim took the lead of the team on the third wicket. The Tigers completed their century by batting first in the third ODI of the series against England.
Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat in the match to avoid a whitewash on Monday (March 6). As of writing this report, the collection of the representatives of Red Green in 22 overs is 101 runs with the loss of 2 wickets. 87 runs came from the bat of Shanto and Mushfiqur in the third wicket partnership. Both batsmen are on their way to fifty. Earlier, Leets Das left the field for the second consecutive innings. Tamim Iqbal departed with 11 runs off 6 balls. Sam Karan increased the pressure on the Tiger camp by bringing both of them back to the dressing room. Liton has shown failure with the bat in all the matches of the current ODI series against England. The batsman failed to open an account of runs in the last two matches and scored only 7 runs in the first match. Bat did not speak to Tamim either. The skipper, who was dismissed for 11 runs in the third ODI, scored 23 and 35 runs in the previous two matches respectively.
Having lost the series in the previous two ODIs, the Tigers’ mission is to avoid a whitewash for now. Bangladesh last experienced a bitter whitewash against Sri Lanka at home nine years ago. In 2016, Bangladesh’s last series loss at home was against England. Since then, the Tigers have been unstoppable in ODIs. Under their influence, mighty India was also swept in the ODI series at the end of last year. Meanwhile, Bangladesh entered the field with a change. Pacer Ebadat Hossain got a place in the XI in place of Taskin Ahmed. There have been changes in the England team as well.
Bangladesh XI: Tamim Iqbal (Captain), Liton Das, Nazmul Hossain Shanto, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmudullah, Afif Hossain, Mehdi Hasan Miraj, Taijul Islam, Ebadat Hossain and Mustafizur Rahman.
England XI: Jason Roy, Philip Salt, David Malan, James Vince, Jos Buttler (captain), Sam Curran, Moeen Ali, Chris Woakes, Rehan Ahmed, Adil Rashid, and Zafra Archer.
