The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the latest One Day International (ODI) team rankings, and a major shift has occurred at the pinnacle. Australia, following their remarkable showing in the ongoing ODI series against South Africa, has reclaimed the coveted No. 1 position in the rankings.

Australia’s ascent to the summit of the ODI rankings is a result of their convincing victories in the series against South Africa, where they now lead 2-0 in the five-match series. In the first two games, the Australian team showcased exceptional batting and bowling performances, significantly contributing to their rise in the rankings.

In the second ODI of the series against South Africa, David Warner and Marnus Labuschagne stole the spotlight with their brilliant centuries. Warner’s century, his 46th as an opening batter in international cricket, allowed him to surpass Sachin Tendulkar’s record. Meanwhile, Labuschagne’s impressive 124 runs off 99 deliveries in the same match showcased his outstanding form and has potentially secured him a spot in Australia’s final 15 for the upcoming ODI World Cup.

With their victory over South Africa, Australia now holds 121 points on the ICC Men’s ODI team rankings, taking the top position. They sit one point ahead of Pakistan, who have 120 points but have a chance to regain the top spot if they win the Asia Cup 2023 title and Australia falters in their remaining matches.
