James Anderson became the first pacer in history and the third bowler overall to reach the milestone of 650 wickets in Tests. The 39-year-old English pacer made Tom Latham his 650th victim in the first over of New Zealand’s second innings on the fourth day of the TrentBridge Test on Monday. Latham has virtually gifted the milestone wicket to Anderson by being ridiculously bowled.
Devon Conway and Will Young put on a century partnership for the second wicket. Jack Leach broke the partnership by removing Conway for 52 runs. New Zealand ended the fourth day at 224 for seven. Will Young (56) and Devon Conway (52) scored half-centuries. The visitors took a lead of 238 runs.

Earlier, in reply to New Zealand’s 553, England’s first innings in the first session was stopped at 539 runs. Joe Root, who started the day on 163, was dismissed for 176. 56 runs came from the bat of Ben Foakes. England lost their last five wickets for just 23 runs in the face of Trent Boult’s knock. New Zealand got a 14-run lead. Boult took five wickets for 106 runs.
