In a recent interview with a local news media channel, Amir delved into the ever-changing world of cricket rankings and raised concerns about how consistent participation in matches can impact a player’s ranking.

“The ICC rankings change every week, and when you play all 40 matches out of 40, and if you score 25 in one, 50 in another, and 70 on 60 balls in another, you will climb up in the rankings yourself,” Amir asserted.

Drawing Comparisons

To drive home his point, the former left-arm pacer drew comparisons with other renowned international cricketers who excel in ODI cricket but haven’t managed to secure top spots in the rankings.

“Why doesn’t Buttler come into the rankings? Why don’t de Kock and Miller come into the number one spot in rankings? When B and C teams come, they don’t play. When you don’t play matches, your points decrease. So, when you play all 40 matches yourself, you will climb up in the rankings yourself,” Amir concluded, shedding light on the intricacies of rankings in the world of cricket.
