The T20 World Cup is going to start in Australia on October 16. Before that, the International Cricket Council (ICC) brought several changes to T20. The new rules will come into effect from October 1.
Let’s know those rules-
Batsman’s position at catch out
Until recently, if the two batsmen at the crease had crossed themselves before the ball was palmed by the fielder during a catch-out, the new batsman would start playing at the non-strike end. But from now on the new rule will no longer be the case. The new batsman will start batting at the same end as the dismissed batsman.
A total ban on saliva
Due to Corona, the use of saliva has been banned for more than two years, but now it has been banned permanently. Once a team made this mistake, they were warned. The bowler and captain were penalized for doing it a second time.
Time to start batting reduced
From now on in ODIs and Tests, the new batsman must be ready to bowl the first ball within two minutes after a batsman is dismissed. Earlier he used to get three minutes. However, in T20, three minutes remain as before.
Batsmen’s right to use the pitch
A batsman’s bat or any part of his body must remain inside the pitch while facing any delivery. Otherwise, it will be considered a dead ball. Similarly, if any delivery by the bowler takes the batsman off the pitch, it will be called a no-ball.
Unethical change of place of the fielding team
The fielding team may not change their position after a bowler has started his run-up. Henceforth if it is caught, the fielding team will be penalized five runs, as well as the delivery, will be declared a dead ball.
Validity of making out
Henceforth Mankad outs will also count as normal runouts. Although marketing was legal earlier, there was a lot of criticism about it. Many cricket analysts say it is against the spirit of cricket.
The striker’s runout attempt is disallowed
If the bowler saw that the batsman on the striking side had come down the wicket before entering the popping crease while bowling, then he could have run out the batsman by throwing without the ball. This cannot be attempted under the new rules. If this is done the delivery will be declared a dead ball.
Permission to use hybrid pitches
From now on, hybrid and natural grass pitches can be used in any ODI and T20I matches with the consent of the participating teams.
Penalties start in ODI
From January this year in T20 cricket, a penalty for slow over rate is given within the match. If the innings are not completed within the stipulated time, the fielding team has to play with one less fielder outside the circle. It will also be started in ODI cricket after the end of the current World Cup Super League.
